Halitosis may affect seriously social life

Halitosis or bad breath is an offensive odour coming from the mouth of a person. It has a dramatic effect not only in the personal level but also in the social one on people that have this condition or think they do.

In many cases halitosis have its origin in the same mouth. A careful choice of the food (avoiding raw garlic and some other products) and a thorough mouth care, and teeth and tongue cleaning can be the solution.

In other cases, oral hygiene does not solve the problem. Then, the visit to a reputed professional is a must. The reason may be in the gums, tonsils, esophagus or stomach. One reason very frequent is a “hiatal hernia”. Or what is the same, that the valve Cardia, placed between the esophagus and the stomach does not close completely, letting clorhidric acid to go up the esophagus and unpleasant odour getting outside. This problem can be identified easily as people who suffer from it have night refluxes after a late dinner. The solution of this problems is generally surgical.
