What is slow food? Eating slowly will let you live much longer
First of all, Slowfood is an International nonprofit organization, born in 1986 defend slow food and oppose to fast food growing habits. It was founded by Carlo Petrini. At the present moment, it has around 110.000 members all over the world and has turned to be a very much respected movement. It aims to safeguard traditional regional cuisine and to boost biodiversity. Other objectives are protecting local ecosystems and help small entrepreneurs in farming, processing and livestock.
However, we are not going to talk about the NPO. We are going to speak about slow food, the concept of taking life more quietly, eating better and safer foods and enjoy our environment. A few days ago we said that we should cook. Cooking your own foods would help you to control our health. And that we should eat accompanied, to get relaxed and eat less. Today we try to show you the advantages of eating real food, to eat very slowly and to chew the food between 30 to 40 times before swallowing it.
What is slow food concept
You will eat less, as the appetite will start diminishing after the first ten minutes.
You will control better you weight.
You will have better digestions, due to the way you’ll mince the food in your mouth. In the meantime, the flavors of the food will send messages to your brain to release adequate amounts of digestive juices. (It will also reduce your appetite)
The food will be well moistened by saliva, allowing an easy transit to your stomach and letting better digestions. You will avoid heartburns and prevent Gastroesophageal reflux.
Saliva will allow a better mouth hygiene, cleaning and protecting your teeth.
You will reduce the risk of getting insulin resistance, associated with eating fast.
This is “slow food” movement.
