Start with a big salad, or with a very large dish of boiled vegetables

I suppose that you are not under medical control. If it were the case, follow your doctor recommendations. Anyway, should you be aware or under the risk of any disease related with obesity, ask for personal and professional medical advice.

The first thing to do is to buy a scale. Anyway, look at home first, as probably we have one bought in a sales period or given to you as a present. Last month I found two brand new in their boxes. Anyway, you must not use it more than once a week, preferably at the same time of the day and in the same conditions. If you had a previous “strange” day, better leave it for the next one to the due date. And do the same if you are not in the exactly personal conditions that you chose to do the weighing. You understand me, isn’t?

Keep a log of the measures.

And now, let’s go to the first week. I am not going to ask you anything very difficult.

One of the basics of a good diet is avoiding hunger. As soon as you feel hungry, you are going to rush to the refrigerator or to the nearest cafeteria to eat a doughnut or something similar.

In the next posts we’ll talk about the importance of a good breakfast. However, our today’s recommendation is more urgent.

Do you remember that you have to eat real food?

Ok, at the moment eat all the real food you want but…. Before… start with a big, giant vegetable salad or with a very large dish of boiled vegetables.

It is important that you put in this main dish the smallest amount of salt that you can, or no salt at all… Mince garlic can help… providing you don’t have a date later.

Step by step you have to enhance your salt sensibility. You may not need it today but too much salt can lead you to a high blood pressure condition. And then you’ll have to be prepared to refuse, in a natural way, salty food.

Does it mean that Mediterranean Diet is a low level salt diet?

Not at all. When you are a pheasant working all day through at 35° C (95°F), you will need a lot of water and salt. However, if you are in an air conditioned office, the case is different. Eat less salt and you will live longer!

You can make a two minute’s salad with a couple of tomatoes and two cucumbers. You can add more vegetable things the following days.

In case that you prefer a mixed salad, you can put things on her as chicken, boiled eggs, fresh cheese neither too salty nor too creamy). But I insist. Go for the vegetables first!

Another advice: chew the salad or boiled vegetables slowly, not only because it is very good to eat slowly but to give time to your brain to know that you are eating… and take hunger away.

Later, eat all the real food you want. (Avoid any food that might contain sugar)

For second dish, you are free to choose what you like (real food). You probably won’t be able to eat the entire amount you put on the plate. Anyway, do not force yourself to eat all. Give the rest to your dog or keep it in the refrigerator.

You have to do this one or twice a day (depending on many circumstances). The rest of the meals, including breakfast, will be treated next post.

Due to the number of people visiting the post The first two weeks, I have created a category with this name. I said there is no such a thing in Mediterranean Diet, but we can invent it!
