Dim light is an appetite suppressant and bright light is an appetite stimulant

The best method to make hens to lay more eggs is exposing them to light 24 hours a day. It is something almost everybody knows. They lay more eggs because they remain more active and consequently eat more.

There is a strong connection between light and appetite. Low light is an appetite suppressant and bright is an appetite stimulant.

In human beings, the biological systems keep us active and alert during the day, prepared for action. We usually eat more. The body produces hormones as adrenaline that burns the calories of the consumed food.

At night, the metabolism changes the process and sends melatonin to the bloodstream. It reduces the appetite and makes us sleep better and more profoundly.

Dim light is an appetite suppressant.

Decades ago, there were not electric light in many country Mediterranean homes. People usually went to bed much earlier than today and slept better. They did not have any light producer devices as clocks or phones, and no external light came through the windows either. An early and generally light supper was the last meal until an early breakfast.

Nevertheless, electric light is sending wrong messages to the body. We feel the impulse of eating “something” several times after dinner. On top of that, we produce melatonin in an unusually small amount. We eat more, sleep worse and feel tired the following day. Consequently we cannot be active and will burn fewer calories. Try to keep the house light dim, avoid long television sessions and go to bed earlier. Be careful to keep your bedroom dark.

Sun light gives us vitamin D, whereas electric light has not this advantage.
Remember not permit electric light influence your appetite. Use it as an appetite suppressant.

A recent survey made in the National Center of Tourism, Hospitality and Gastronomy of Marbella (Spain) has shown that the USA citizens are the most interested in the Mediterranean Diet of the whole world. And a high percentage of them consider this diet to be the best .

Everybody knows that was Dr. Ancel Keys the person who made possible discovering the secrets of the longevity of the Mediterranean people, in special the Cretans . The reasons were – of course – the olive oil, the vegetables, the carbohydrates, the fish and the balance of the food intake. But it was also the frugality, the activity, the daily exercise and the lack of stress what made the Mediterranean Diet the icon of the anti-aging fight. Many other diets try to imitate the original Mediterranean Diet and a few of them are practically equal.

In this blog you can get into the Mediterranean Diet culture and get used to it informally, that it is the best way to acquire cultures. You have to take pleasure in a diet and not to suffer a diet. Most people know that the Mediterranean Diet is the best in world, but not many are aware that it is also the most amusing one.

Don’t follow the Mediterranean Diet. Enjoy it!

Mediterranean Diet helps people live longer, healthier and without any doubt, happier lives.
