One of the principal characteristics of the Mediterranean Diet is that it is made of food. Just food and real food. You may think that everything human being eats is food, but it is not true. A big part of the stuff sold in supermarkets and some type of restaurants resembles food, but it is not. They are manufactured products containing substances never known by human society less than a hundred years ago. Scientists have proved that many of these substances are harmful. They provoke obesity, diabetes, cancer, heart diseases and many others, some of them maybe still unknown.
Try to eat natural food. I know it is difficult to find it in the middle of the confusion. But try to get products as less modified as possible. Natural fruit, vegetables, cereal and nuts, fish, meat, dairy products, etc.
Avoid manufactured and wrapped stuff. Packed pastry, chips, fried corn, etc. are not recommended products.
